TAACP Membership

The Asian American Center for Psychoanalysis was founded on need and desire for a space in which we can think and investigate terrains unexplored and underexplored, including Asian American as a terrain in itself.

Consider joining us as member. Together, we can nurture such a space, materially and psychically, and build a legacy where Asian subjectivities meet psychoanalytic thinking, writing, and practice.

NOTE: For 2026, the member enrollment window is open from now until January 31, 2026.  We don't anticipate opening enrollment again until 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Over the last 3 years since TAACP's founding, we have heard from many that you want to have more opportunites for connection and psychoanalytic engagement with one another.  We believe a membership program will help facilitate this.  Additionaly, we hope that through being a TAACP member, you will help nurture, build, invest, and more actively participate in its mission and flourishing.

At this time, we are unsure how membership dues will be allocated.

Beyond compensating instructors for our courses and seminars, TAACP currently operates entirely through volunteer labor.  While this has been needed for the Center to begin, it is not sustainable in the long term nor does it align with our values for how Asian production and labor - regardless of its form - ought to be valued.

Membership funds might go to support the hiring of operations support staff to manage administrative tasks or to begin to budget for an Executive Director.  Funds may also be used to engage a designer to develop new branding for the Center. Additionally, TAACP aims to practice small acts of economic justice so funds might be redistributed to community groups with greater financial needs.

Most importantly, introducing membership dues represents a gentle re-orientation of how we have operated over the past three years. We believe this will create opportunities for deeper engagement and long term sustainability.

No, all are welcome.  And, given the importance and scarcity of affinity-based spaces, courses and seminars will remain dedicated for Asian and Asian American clinicians.  Online public events and in person events will continue to be open to all.

If you don't feel like a membership is right for you and would like to still support TAACP, consider making a donation in lieu of membership.

While we would love to gather in every city in which our members are based, we need to be judicious and focus our efforts on locations with higher member concentration.  We will review the geographic distribution of our 2026 membership and plan accordingly.

A note: TAACP aims to gather in person at one psychoanalytic conference a year.  For 2026, we will be meeting in person during the Division 39 Spring Conference in April 2026 in New York City.

Lastly, we encourage and will support members to organize in person gatherings in their locations.
